Employees with mental health problems often feel isolated and disconnected. They may face barriers due to stigma, reluctance to reach out, and uncertainty about where and how to get help. 39% of Ontario workers state that they would not tell their manager if they were experiencing a mental health problem because of perceived stigma in the workplace about mental health issues. (Dewa, 2014) The statistics tell an important story. One in five Canadians will experience mental illness and two-thirds of Canadians living with mental illness cite stigma as the reason that they do not ask for help. (Bell Canada, 2015). This webinar provides practical steps that a workplace can take to create a more open and supportive workplace culture in an effort to stop stigma.
