About This Course

This two-day course covers the second part of the training required for you to be a certified member of a workplace Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC). You can complete JHSC Certification Part 2 training with a knowledgeable instructor either in-person or online.

What You'll Learn

This Part 2 course addresses health and safety hazards and issues common to workplaces in the Healthcare and Community Service sector. Learners will review how to effectively recognize, assess, control, and evaluate workplace hazards such as workplace violence and harassment, client handling, and psychological hazards.

Who Is This Course For

JHSC members from a workplace in the Health and Community Care sector who want to become certified, regardless of any previous experience in health and safety, and who have completed JHSC Certification Part 1 training.

Workplaces that regularly have 20 or more employees must ensure at least two personnel have completed JHSC Certification training.

Course Completion

Combined with Part 1, this training leads to certification under the guidelines established by the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development (MLITSD).

Description

As the second part of the JHSC certification process, Sector Specific Certification assists JHSC members with issues particular to their work environment. To complete Certification Part Two, both management and worker members of the JHSC must receive training in the significant hazards found in their workplace.

The program will enable participants to effectively recognize and assess these sector specific hazards, as well as outline methods for controlling them. Participants will also learn about relevant legislation, standards and guidelines.

Note: After completing JHSC Certification Part 2, you must complete JHSC Certification Refresher before 3 years have passed, and every 3 years thereafter, to maintain your certification status.
