Prerequisite: Certification Part One Training. 
Part Two is a continuation of what you have learned in Part One. You must take Part One before Part Two according to the MLTSD Training Standard which took effect March 1, 2016.

Basics

This 2-day Distance Learning course covers the second part of the training required for you to be a certified member of a workplace Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC). It is customized to address significant workplace hazards and issues commonly found in the Government and Municipal sector. Combined with Part One, this instructor-led online training leads to certification under the Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development’s guidelines.

Course Content

In this course, you will learn:
•    The relevant legislation, standards and guidelines
•    At least 6 specific workplace hazards commonly found in the Government and Municipal sector and their potential to cause injury or illness (i.e. musculoskeletal disorders, driving, biological agents, physical agents, slips, trips and falls, electrical hazards)
•    How to effectively recognize, assess, control and evaluate workplace hazards 
•    How to prepare and complete an action plan

Who should take this Distance Learning course?

This mandatory course is appropriate for those working in Ontario’s Government and Municipal sector and accessible through instructor-led online delivery. 

All workplace JHSC members, regardless of any previous experience in health and safety, are required to take this course in order to become certified. Workplaces that regularly have 20 or more employees must ensure at least two personnel have completed JHSC Certification training.
