Basics

This 2-day Distance Learning course covers the second part of the training required for you to be a certified member of a workplace Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) by addressing significant hazards and issues specific to your work environment. Combined with Part One, this instructor-led online training leads to certification under the Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development’s guidelines.

 

Course Content

In this course, you will learn:
•    The relevant legislation, standards and guidelines
•    At least 6 specific workplace hazards commonly found in all sectors and their potential to cause injury or illness (i.e. musculoskeletal disorders, driving, chemical agents, biological agents, physical agents, workplace violence and harassment, slips, trips and falls, client handling, emergency preparedness, psychological hazards)
•    How to effectively recognize, assess, control and evaluate workplace hazards 
•    How to prepare and complete an action plan

 

Note: After completing JHSC Certification Part 2, you must complete JHSC Certification Refresher before 3 years have passed, and every 3 years thereafter, to maintain your certification status.
