The purpose of mandatory compliance training is to improve occupational health and safety for Ontario's workforce. The requirements for mandatory compliance training apply to all workplaces covered under the Occupational Health and Safety Act, regardless of workplace size or sector. PSHSA offers mandatory compliance training across our various sectors and can help you understand requirements for your organization's health and safety program.
Regulation 297/13 under the Ontario’s Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) requires health and safety awareness training for every worker and supervisor.
Awareness training guidance tools which help to support the implementation of Regulation 297/13 are available from the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development (MLITSD):
- Training Program Assessment for Workers
- Training Program Assessment of Supervisors
- Record Keeping Template
- Knowledge Check for Workers
- Knowledge Check for Supervisors
PSHSA offers Health and Safety Awareness programs for both supervisors and employers which satisfy the requirements outlined in the regulation. Upon completion of the training, participants will understand the requirements of Regulation 297/13 and will be informed on how to recognize, assess and control workplace hazards and how to evaluate such controls. These courses are applicable across all sectors and will provide certificates upon completion.
